This is a general-purpose privacy policy template covering the areas our advertising and analytics providers require. It is not a substitute for legal advice — have it reviewed against your specific setup and jurisdiction before relying on it.
Who controls your data
The Longer Answer is operated by Raúl Magalhães da Graça (“we,” “us”). For the purposes of GDPR, we are the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Contact us at contact@thelongeranswer.blog for any privacy request.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies: one to remember your cookie consent choice, and — only if you accept — cookies set by Google Analytics and, where enabled, Google AdSense. We do not use cookies to identify you individually outside of those providers' own systems.
On your first visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising scripts do not run until you accept. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the consent cookie in your browser settings, which will show the banner again on your next visit.
Google Analytics
When enabled, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are read, how people arrive, and roughly how long they stay. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your IP address (which Google may truncate or otherwise anonymize), browser and device type, and pages visited. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Where enabled, we use Google AdSense to display advertising. AdSense and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, including personalized advertising where you have consented to it. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or, for participating vendors generally, at aboutads.info. Rejecting cookies in our consent banner prevents advertising scripts from loading at all.
GDPR — UK and EU readers
If you are located in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to or restrict our processing of it. Because we collect very little personal data directly — mainly what Google Analytics and AdSense gather with your consent — most of these requests are best directed to Google directly via the links above, or to us at contact@thelongeranswer.blog and we will forward or action them as applicable. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
CCPA/CPRA — California readers
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA — which, in our case, primarily concerns advertising cookies used for personalized ads. Rejecting cookies in our consent banner opts you out of that sharing. To exercise any of these rights, or to submit a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information request directly, email contact@thelongeranswer.blog with the subject line “CCPA Request.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at contact@thelongeranswer.blog and we will delete it.
Data we collect directly
If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide, solely to respond to you. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies, analytics, or advertising changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
